But she had a very bad substance abuse problem. And I know she always wanted to be a good mother. So I separate my mom from her disease. I always imagine that my mom and an alcoholic were living in the same body. And I know that my mom loved us. And that she hated the alcoholic."

HELP ME RAISE MONEY TO END HOMELESSNESS AND AIDS THROUGH ADVOCACY AND LIFE SAVING SERVICES
Hello community,
My name is Gerardo. I am the creator and moderator of “Queer Men of Color in Love.” This September I will be running in the Costa Rica Half Marathon in order to raise money for Housing Works.
Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts. Housing Works serves approximately 4,000 individuals every year, providing services like housing, medical and dental care, legal services, job training, mental health services, and care management.
I am trying to raise $1,500 by September to fund these crucial services and our advocacy efforts to end homelessness and AIDS. As you may know, queer men of color are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS and we are particularly affected by homelessness due to our many intersecting oppressions. Please help me raise some money for our community!
All donations are completely tax-deductible and help support these vital efforts. Find out if your company matches charitable donations and your gift could be generously multiplied.
Thank you for donating and all your support! Every single donation counts. I appreciate anything that you all can give! If you can give me at least $5 or maybe even $25 or $50, please do! If you do not have the funds, please reblog this and spread the word.
